First published 7 July 2021, the day after the relaunch the project treats as its start. Expanded in October 2026 so a burn is not described as a payment to holders, and so the two chains are not described as one balance. FLOKI is a token. The project’s timeline says it was created on 25 June 2021, the day a public tweet said a dog would be named Floki, and that a core team stepped forward on 6 July. A tweet is not a founder, and the token is not a share of the person who posted. What is Dogecoin (DOGE)? and What is Pepe (PEPE)? are the neighbouring shape. What is BNB? is the fee on one of the two chains. Ethereum without the jargon is the fee on the other. FLOKI is neither fee.
Each chain was given a mint of 10 trillion. The project said a bridge would keep the circulating total from exceeding 10 trillion, because coins locked on one side were released on the other. In February 2023 that bridge was closed and the tokens sitting in it were burned. The project put that burn at 5.1 trillion. A burned coin is gone. It is not paid to the people who still hold some. The supply on each chain is that chain’s contract after later burns. A price times 20 trillion counts both mints and ignores what was destroyed.
A transfer can take a cut for a treasury, a burn, or a redistribution. The cut is in the contract you are about to call, and it has been changed. An old blog that names a percentage is that week. A lock that lets you leave early by burning a slice is a parameter of that lock. The screen shows the penalty. Staking is a lock and a queue, not a savings account.
FLOKI on Ethereum is not FLOKI on BNB Chain. An exchange that offers to move it is a custodian for that hop, not the 2021 bridge. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Match the token a long-standing explorer has shown, on the chain you meant. Nothing here is an instruction to bridge, to burn, or to buy FLOKI.
