First published 29 June 2020, a year after Klaytn opened. Expanded in October 2026 so the rename is not described as a new chain, and so Finschia’s token is not folded into the one-for-one. Klaytn opened on 27 June 2019, from Ground X, a Kakao company. Kaia is what that chain is called after it merged, on paper, with Finschia, which had come out of LINE. The hard fork was 29 August 2024, at block 162,900,480. The chain id stayed 8217. KLAY balances became KAIA one for one, on the same ledger. A wallet that still prints KLAY is the same coin with the old ticker. It is not a second balance.
FNSA was the other chain’s token. It did not rename itself. Holders had to swap it, and the project described that rate as a value conversion, not one for one. This page will not walk through the swap. A site that says it will move your FNSA and asks for a recovery phrase is not the portal. The merge changed the supply, because that other value was folded in, and the chain still mints new KAIA. A price times a 2019 KLAY figure is not the live count. There is no hard cap in the project’s own transition notes.
The fee is KAIA. An address starts with 0x. So does an Ethereum address. Chain id 8217 is not chain id 1. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Delegating KAIA to a validator is how the design describes staking. Staking is a lock and a queue, not a savings account. This page will not walk through it. Nothing here is an instruction to swap FNSA, to delegate, or to buy KAIA.
