First published 18 May 2021, the day after launch. Expanded in October 2026 so a boost is not described as interest, and so CVX is not described as CRV. Convex Finance opened on 17 May 2021. It is software on Ethereum that pools Curve positions. What is Curve (CRV)? is that other protocol. CVX is not CRV. The pitch was that a liquidity provider could get a boosted Curve reward without locking their own CRV for years. Someone else had locked CRV into Convex. A boost is extra tokens from that design. It is not a savings account.

The cap is 100 million CVX. The docs say new CVX is minted as people claim CRV through Convex, and that the amount of CVX per CRV falls as the supply climbs. A falling ratio is not a second cap. One percent was an airdrop to people who already held locked CRV. The docs also put team and investor tokens on a one-year vest from launch. That clock has run. An unlock was coins that already existed.

cvxCRV is a different token. The project described turning CRV into cvxCRV as one way. A pool that trades them may not do so one for one. This page will not walk through a lock, a claim, or a pool. ETH pays the fee. CVX does not. Nothing here is an instruction to boost, to lock CRV, or to buy CVX.
