First published 11 April 2020. Expanded in October 2026 so a euro in a reserve account is not described as the token, and so this coin is not described as Euro Coin. EURS is an Ethereum token from STASIS. The company announced it as a token backed one for one by euros, and said it would be on the exchange DSX from 4 July 2018. What is Euro Coin (EURC)? is a different issuer’s euro token. What is USDC? is a dollar token. Stablecoins: useful, not magic.

There is no fixed cap in that design. New tokens are supposed to appear when euros are reserved, and to leave when euros are paid out. A price near one euro is the product’s aim, not a guarantee. The company says each token is matched by a euro in reserve. A web page that says so is not the euro, and it is not cash you can withdraw from the chain. A copy on another chain is a bridge. A bridge is extra software, not a tunnel.

ETH pays the fee to move the Ethereum token. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to mint, to redeem, or to buy EURS.
