First published 24 April 2020. Expanded in October 2026 so this coin is not described as Grin, and so a hidden amount is not described as nobody in charge. MWC is its own chain. The project’s roadmap dates mainnet to 11 November 2019. It is a fork of Grin, which is a different coin, and it is not the Ethereum token called Beam. What is Monero (XMR)? is a different privacy design. What is Bitcoin, in plain language? is the chain the early distribution pointed at. The ledger is designed so a payment’s amount is not a public list. That is the mechanism. This page will not walk through it.

Genesis created 10 million MWC. The project’s own table caps the supply at 20 million, with new coins paid to miners on a schedule that steps down. Ten million is the opening stock, not a live count of what can move today. The project said a large part of that opening stock would go to people who registered Bitcoin in 2019, and that the claim had a deadline. A closed claim is not a right that is still open. This page will not walk through a claim or a miner.

An MWC address is not a Bitcoin address and not an Ethereum address. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to mine, to swap, or to buy MWC.
