What is OriginTrail (TRAC)?

An Ethereum token for a data network. The sale finished in January 2018. The supply is 500 million. The old ticker TRACE is not this coin.

First published 6 April 2020. Expanded in October 2026 so the broken sale token is not described as this one. TRAC is an Ethereum token. Branimir Rakić and Tomaž Levak are the people most associated with OriginTrail. The sale hit a hard cap of 22.5 million dollars on 17 January 2018. The project said transfers would open on 24 January. The supply is 500 million, and the project said minting was finished. There is no inflation schedule.

The sale contract minted a few thousand more than it should have, and those tokens could not be moved. The project issued a new contract. The ticker changed from TRACE to TRAC. They said the extra would come out of the founders’ share, so the 500 million did not grow. TRACE sitting in an old wallet is not the token this page means, and it is not a claim you can still redeem for TRAC. This page will not walk through the broken function.

TRAC is what the project uses to pay for publishing data on its network. That payment is not the Ethereum fee. ETH pays the fee to move the token. A copy on another chain is a bridge. A bridge is extra software, not a tunnel. The wrong network is still the wrong city. A record in their data network is not TRAC. Nothing here is an instruction to publish a record, to stake, or to buy TRAC.
