First published 22 February 2021, the day after launch. Expanded in October 2026 so a pool is not described as a savings account, and so Serum’s order book is not described as Raydium itself. Raydium launched on 21 February 2021. It is a program on Solana, not a second chain. The design was a pool that can also use an order book, first Serum and later OpenBook. Those books are other software. A swap that touches them is still a Solana transaction. SOL pays the fee. What is Solana (SOL)? is that chain. RAY is not SOL.

555 million RAY is the cap. The project’s current docs say the mint authority is disabled, so a later instruction cannot print a 556 millionth. Team and seed locks finished on 21 February 2024. An unlock was coins that already existed. About a third was a mining reserve paid out over time. A reserve is not a second cap. A price times 555 million is the ceiling, not the amount that is free to trade.

Putting coins in a pool can return fewer of the coins you deposited when the price moves. That is the trade, not a fault in the sentence. This page will not walk through a pool. What is Jupiter (JUP)? is a different Solana program that routes trades. RAY is not JUP. A Raydium account is a Solana address. It is not an Ethereum address. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to provide liquidity, to stake, or to buy RAY.
