What is SPX6900 (SPX)?

A meme token, not the S&P 500. First traded in August 2023. Minted at 1 billion. ETH pays the fee.

First published 17 August 2023, the day after the first trade. Expanded in October 2026 so a joke about the stock index is not described as the index. SPX6900 is a meme token on Ethereum. The first trade was on 16 August 2023. The number 6900 is a joke about the S&P 500, which is a stock index this token does not own. Holding SPX does not give you that index, a share, or a dividend. What is Pepe (PEPE)? is a different meme. ETH pays the fee. SPX does not.

The token was minted at 1 billion. The project’s own page says 69,006,909 were burned, about 6.9 percent, which would leave on the order of 931 million. That figure is their claim. The live count is whatever the Ethereum token still has. A burn is not a dividend. The project calls the launch a fair launch and says the liquidity was locked for a long time. A lock is a contract term, not a promise that the price rises.

Copies on other chains are bridges. A bridge is extra software, not a tunnel. An address on Solana will not receive the Ethereum token. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to bridge, to provide liquidity, or to buy SPX.
