First published 12 August 2022, the week WhiteBIT announced the token. Expanded in October 2026 so Whitechain is not left out of the address check. WhiteBIT Coin is a token issued by WhiteBIT, a centralised exchange. WBT is the ticker. The use that matters on an ordinary day is inside a WhiteBIT account: fee discounts, referral tweaks, and other perks the exchange lists. Those perks are a company price list. They are not a property the token keeps after you withdraw it, except where the terms say a holding elsewhere still counts.
What is BNB? is the earlier and larger version of this shape, an exchange token that later had a chain. WBT has a chain too. The chain does not turn the discount into a protocol.
A fixed issue, and a burn the company runs
WhiteBIT’s own description says 400 million WBT were created and that no further issue is planned. A portion was sold privately, a smaller portion through the exchange’s own launchpad, and a large treasury portion was locked to a release schedule. The company also says it buys and burns WBT until at least half the supply is gone. The weekly amount has been described as a share of trading fees plus a smaller share of other exchange income. The same pages say the company can change the amount and the period. A burn run by an exchange is an operations decision. It is not a halving written into a chain anyone can mine.
A market-cap figure multiplies a price by a supply. If most of the volume is on the exchange that issued the token, that figure is not a statement that a stranger could sell the whole supply. This page will not estimate how much could be sold. It will tell you the supply number to argue about is the company’s, including what it says has been burned, not a round 400 million copied from a 2022 press release.
Three networks wear the logo
WBT exists as a token on Ethereum, as a token on TRON, and as the native coin of Whitechain, the exchange’s own network. Whitechain uses proof of authority. On that network WBT pays the fees. On Ethereum it is an ERC-20 and the fee is ETH. On TRON it is a TRC-20 and the fee is TRX. Three balances, one ticker. An Ethereum address starts with 0x. A TRON address starts with T. Whitechain is a third string. The wrong network is still the wrong city.
Fee discounts depend on how much WBT the exchange sees in the account, and the exchange says it can change the tiers. Read the current schedule on the day, not a screenshot. An exchange balance is an IOU, not a wallet. Nothing here is an instruction to buy, hold, or withdraw WBT.
