First published 1 July 2022, the day after launch. Expanded in October 2026 so the euro ticker is not confused with USDC, and so a bank euro is not described as the token. Circle launched Euro Coin on Ethereum on 30 June 2022. The early ticker was EUROC. This page uses EURC, the ticker the price row uses. It is the same issuer’s euro product, not a second coin you redeem the old ticker into. Circle says it is backed by euros in euro-denominated bank accounts, and that it can be redeemed one for one for euros. Redemption is a Circle process for the customers Circle allows. It is not a button in every wallet. What is USDC? is the same company’s dollar token. EURC is not USDC. Stablecoins: useful, not magic is the category.
There is no fixed cap. Circle mints when it accepts euros and the supply falls when it redeems. A wallet balance is not a euro note, and it is not a balance at a bank you can phone. If Circle or the bank holding the euros fails, the token is a claim in that failure. A reserve report is a date. It is not the coin in your wallet.
The launch chain was Ethereum. Later copies on other chains are different sends. ETH pays the fee on Ethereum. EURC does not. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to mint, to redeem, or to buy EURC.
