First published 21 November 2023, the day after the token claim opened. Expanded in October 2026 so the token is not described as the price feed, and so 10 billion is not described as the float. Pyth is an oracle. Publishers, trading firms and market venues, post prices. Contracts on other chains can read a combined price. PYTH is the governance token of that network. It is not the price, and holding it does not give you the feed. What is Chainlink (LINK)? is the older oracle token. A feed from one is not a feed from the other. What is Solana (SOL)? is the ledger the token was issued on. SOL pays the Solana fee. PYTH does not.
The claim opened on 20 November 2023 and closed on 20 February 2024. It is closed. The allocation for that first round was about 255 million, inside a community slice of 600 million, itself 6 percent of the cap. A link in a chat that says claim PYTH, and asks for a recovery phrase, is not the 2023 page. A wallet signature is not a handshake.
Ten billion is the cap. It was not the float
The maximum is 10 billion. The starting circulating figure was 1.5 billion, 15 percent. The project said the other 85 percent started locked, with unlocks at 6, 18, 30, and 42 months from the launch. The last of those dates is still ahead of this expansion. A price times 10 billion counts coins the lock has not released. An unlock is coins that already existed. It is not a new oracle.
A price a publisher posts can be stale or wrong. The contract that trusts the feed does not call you first. DeFi is software with rules you cannot call support about. Voting with PYTH is a vote on the oracle’s own rules, including how publishers are paid. It is not a vote on Solana, and it is not a claim on the trades the prices describe.
The token is a Solana token. PYTH on another chain is a bridge copy until you are looking at the token the project issued. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Match the token a long-standing explorer has shown since the launch, not a ticker in a chat. Nothing here is an instruction to publish a price, to claim, or to buy PYTH.
