What is Stargate (STG)?

A 2022 bridge token. Genesis minted 1 billion. A 2025 vote swapped its role for ZRO. Conversions stop on 15 December 2026.

First published 18 March 2022, the day after the launch auction. Expanded in October 2026 so a bridge is not described as STG, and so a conversion is not described as a vote you still cast. STG is an Ethereum token. The project’s launch note set 17 March 2022 for the auction and said 1 billion STG were minted at the start, as the whole supply. STG was the vote token for a bridge. The coins a person sends across that bridge are not STG. A bridge is extra software, not a tunnel.

In 2025 token holders approved an offer from the LayerZero Foundation. The offer swapped the role of STG for a different token, ZRO, at 0.08634 ZRO per STG, and said the Stargate DAO would dissolve. An October 2026 note said that conversion would remain available until 15 December 2026. This page will not walk through it. Unconverted STG is still a token. It is not ZRO, and it is not a vote the old DAO still runs.

ETH pays the fee. The wrong network is still the wrong city. Nothing here is an instruction to bridge, to convert, or to buy STG.
