Airdrop

Free tokens sent to addresses, usually as marketing or a community reward.

An airdrop is a distribution of tokens to addresses that meet some rule: you held another coin, you used an app, or you simply appeared on a list. The tokens can be worth something, or they can be bait.

Treat unexpected airdrops as untrusted. Approving a contract so you can “claim” a surprise token is a common way people lose the coins they already had.
