Seed phrase

Also called recovery phrase, mnemonic

A list of words that can recreate the private keys. Anyone with the list can empty the wallet.

A recovery phrase (often 12 or 24 words) is a human-readable backup of the wallet’s keys. Write it on paper or metal, offline. Never type it into a website “to sync.” Never photograph it for the cloud.

If you have the phrase, you can restore on a new device. If someone else has the phrase, they can restore too. A hardware wallet does not change that math.
