Mining

Machines spending energy to propose the next Bitcoin-style block and collect the subsidy plus fees.

In proof of work, miners compete to find a hash that meets a difficulty target. The winner proposes the next block and, if the network accepts it, earns new coins plus fees. Mining is a business with hardware, electricity, and pools. It is not a lottery ticket you run on a laptop for fun in 2026.

Mining does not “create Bitcoin from electricity” in a mystical sense. It is how the network buys agreement on the next page.
